Connect Exact Online to bol
On bol, the largest online marketplace in the Netherlands and Belgium, the customer pays bol, and bol pays you later with commission and fees already deducted. That makes your bookkeeping different from your own online store. An integration with Exact Online posts sales per order and processes the settlement so your account with bol balances every period.
- Orders as sales entries comes from bol
- bol settlement comes from bol
- Invoices for business customers goes to bol
- Stock for own fulfilment goes to bol
- Fulfilment by bol comes from bol
Built for clients including Tata Steel, M&G Investments, Digistore24, Toppers in Concert, Bar-le-Duc and Loogman
For your books, bol is two things at once: a sales channel and the party that collects the money. The customer pays bol and gets a payment overview from bol. At the end of the month, or twice a month for some partners, bol sends an invoice that offsets your revenue against your costs, such as commission and shipping labels. The balance is paid out.
Two obligations come on top of that. If you sell to a business customer, you send a correct invoice yourself, because you are the seller, not bol. And through bol you deliver to consumers in the Netherlands and Belgium. For Belgian consumers, the OSS scheme (the EU One Stop Shop) may apply, with Belgian VAT.
For each item: which direction it goes, when, and why. This is the starting point; in the first conversation we fit it to your situation.
- 01Orders as sales entriesbol → Exact Onlinewhen an order has shipped
Every consumer order becomes a sales entry on a bol customer account, with the bol order number as reference and the VAT code for the Netherlands or Belgium.
- 02bol settlementbol → Exact Onlinewhen bol creates the period invoice
Through the Invoices API, you fetch the invoice and the specification per transaction. The integration posts commission, shipping labels and other fees separately and offsets them against the sales on the bol customer account. What remains is exactly the payout to your bank.
- 03Invoices for business customersExact Online → bolstraight after shipping
When a business customer orders, you create the invoice in Exact and upload it per shipment to bol, which places it in the customer's account. Through the API you can also see open invoice requests from customers.
- 04Stock for own fulfilmentExact Online → bolwhen stock in Exact changes
If you fulfil orders yourself, the stock position from Exact goes to your offers on bol. With an Exact package for wholesale or manufacturing, Exact reports changes through a webhook.
- 05Fulfilment by bolbol → Exact Onlinefor orders and returns from bol's warehouse
If your stock is held at bol, bol manages it. The Retailer API distinguishes between own fulfilment and Fulfilment by bol (LVB), so the integration can post those orders and returns separately.
Not always. If an existing integration for Exact Online and bol does exactly what you need, we'll tell you.
The Exact Online App Store lists bol integrations from other vendors. They turn bol orders into entries in Exact. When choosing, look at how the integration handles bol's period invoice, whether it can upload business invoices, and whether it keeps own fulfilment and Fulfilment by bol apart.
If you sell through bol and through your own online store, you want to post both channels the same way, with the same item codes and general ledger accounts. Two separate integrations that each make their own choices make the month-end close harder.
- You sell through bol and your own online store and want to post both channels the same way.
- You use Fulfilment by bol for part of your range and ship the rest yourself.
- You have many business customers and want to upload their invoices automatically per shipment.
- You advertise on bol and want to post those costs separately and track them per product.
AI reads, sorts and prepares a suggestion. Where it matters, a person decides.
Checking the settlement
An AI step compares bol's specification with your own orders and flags what differs: a commission that doesn't match the product category, a return that was offset but never reached you, an adjustment without an order. You decide what to query with bol.
Preparing invoice requests
A business customer asks for an invoice through bol. AI prepares the data from the request and checks the VAT number and address. An employee approves, then the invoice goes to bol per shipment.
bol is your debtor
The consumer pays bol, not you. Post consumer orders to a bol customer account and offset the period invoice there too. If that account isn't at zero after a payout, something is wrong.
30 days for invoice details
Because of the GDPR, bol provides a customer's invoice details through the API for no more than 30 days after the order date. So create business invoices straight after shipping, not at the end of the month.
No double revenue on business orders
If you create a sales invoice in Exact for a business order, don't also post that same order as a sales entry. Let the integration track per order how it was posted.
Advertising on a separate invoice
If you advertise on bol, you receive a separate invoice for advertising alongside the period invoice. Post it to its own general ledger account, or your commission costs will look higher than they are.
What goes where
Which data moves, in which direction, and which system wins when two values differ. That is written down before anything gets built. For this integration, that means: Orders as sales entries, bol settlement, Invoices for business customers, Stock for own fulfilment, Fulfilment by bol.
Fields and rules
For every field, how it translates between the systems: statuses, VAT codes, general ledger accounts, item numbers. And what happens with a duplicate or a missing value. For this integration, that means: bol is your debtor, 30 days for invoice details, No double revenue on business orders, Advertising on a separate invoice.
Testing with real cases
In a sandbox or test administration, with the exceptions you actually run into: credit notes, partial deliveries, changed customer details.
Live, with logging and monitoring
Every sync is logged, and when something fails, someone gets an alert. If a vendor changes its API, we update the integration.

No account manager. You talk to someone who builds integrations themselves, and who will tell you when a standard integration is enough.

Can I connect bol to Exact Online?
Yes. The Exact Online App Store lists bol integrations from other vendors. Through the bol Retailer API and the Exact API, you can also build your own integration, for example if you want to post bol and your own online store the same way.
How do I post bol's invoice with commission and fees?
Fetch the invoice and the specification per transaction through the Invoices API. Post commission, shipping labels and other fees separately, and offset them against the sales on the bol customer account. The balance is the payout to your bank.
Do I have to create invoices myself for bol customers?
For business customers, yes: you are the seller, not bol. You upload the invoice per shipment to bol through the API. It shows no bank account number and no commission or shipping costs, and the total equals what the customer paid bol.
Which VAT applies to bol sales to Belgian consumers?
If your sales to consumers in other EU countries together exceed the €10,000 threshold, you charge Belgian VAT and post it in Exact to an OSS VAT code for Belgium. That code isn't linked to a box on the Dutch VAT return. Have your bookkeeper check the set-up.
Does the integration also work with Fulfilment by bol?
Yes. The Retailer API distinguishes between orders you fulfil yourself and orders through Fulfilment by bol. LVB costs and income are in the specification of the bol invoice, so you can post them separately.
