Connect Shopify to bol
If you sell through your own Shopify store and on bol, you want one stock level, one place where orders come in and no double sales. An integration lists your offers on bol from Shopify and brings bol orders back, whether you ship yourself or use Fulfilment by bol.
- Offers and price goes to bol
- Stock goes to bol
- Orders and cancellation requests comes from bol
- Shipping and tracking goes to bol
- LVB orders and returns comes from bol
Built for clients including Tata Steel, M&G Investments, Digistore24, Toppers in Concert, Bar-le-Duc and Loogman
It often starts with your own Shopify store, with bol added for extra reach in the Netherlands and Belgium. Your range, product information and stock are already in Shopify. The obvious choice is to make Shopify the lead system and fill bol from the same data.
Without an integration, you run two stores by hand. A sale on bol doesn't lower your stock in Shopify, orders get retyped and tracking has to go to bol separately. When it gets busy, you sell products twice or miss your delivery promise.
For each item: which direction it goes, when, and why. This is the starting point; in the first conversation we fit it to your situation.
- 01Offers and priceShopify → bolwhen a product is added or changed in Shopify
For every variant with an EAN, the integration creates an offer on bol, with price, condition and delivery promise. Price changes go along too, optionally with a separate pricing rule for bol.
- 02StockShopify → bolon every stock change in Shopify
A sale, return or new delivery changes the stock in Shopify. The integration passes the new level straight on to bol.
- 03Orders and cancellation requestsbol → Shopifywhen a new bol order comes in
The order arrives in Shopify with customer, delivery address and order lines, recognisable as a bol order. The integration has Shopify lower the stock, and your warehouse picks it up like any other order. If the customer asks on bol to cancel, that is added to the order too.
- 04Shipping and trackingShopify → bolas soon as the order is shipped in Shopify
Carrier and tracking from the fulfilment in Shopify go to bol as a shipment. That way the customer sees where their parcel is and bol measures your delivery.
- 05LVB orders and returnsbol → Shopifywhen bol ships an order or a return comes in
bol ships Fulfilment by bol (LVB) orders itself. The integration adds them to Shopify as already shipped, so your revenue is complete. Returns come back so that stock and refunds in Shopify are right.
Not always. If an existing integration for Shopify and bol does exactly what you need, we'll tell you.
Shopify's own marketplace app, Marketplace Connect, lists Amazon, eBay, Walmart and Target Plus. bol isn't among them. The Shopify App Store does have apps from other parties that handle offers, stock, orders and tracking between Shopify and bol. The bol Partner Platform also lists integration partners.
Those apps handle the basic process well. They stop where your process differs: orders that need to go straight to a WMS rather than to Shopify, a mix of your own shipping and LVB per product, or stock you want to split by channel. Then you build on Shopify's GraphQL Admin API and bol's Retailer API.
- You use your own shipping or LVB per product and want to see the LVB stock next to your Shopify stock.
- bol orders shouldn't go into Shopify, but straight into your WMS, ERP or to a fulfilment partner.
- You want a stock buffer per channel, or to reserve part of your stock for your own store.
- Not all your Shopify variants have an EAN, or you sell bundles that have their own EAN on bol.
AI reads, sorts and prepares a suggestion. Where it matters, a person decides.
Product content for bol
Your Shopify copy is written for your own store. For each product, AI turns it into a draft of the product content for bol, in Dutch and, for Belgium, in French as well. A team member approves the draft before the integration submits it.
Monitoring price
bol uses push notifications to report when the thresholds for its price stars or the competing offers on your product change. AI turns that into a price suggestion within the margins you set. A person or a fixed rule decides.
Which system leads
Make Shopify the lead for products, prices and stock, and bol the lead for orders, cancellation requests and returns that originate there. If you change a price on bol by hand, the integration overwrites it at the next change.
Preventing double sales
Shopify and bol share your stock. If the integration falls behind, you sell the last item twice and have to cancel, which counts against you at bol. Send stock on every change and pull in bol orders quickly.
EAN codes
bol ties your offer to an EAN. Shopify has a barcode field per variant, where you also record the EAN type. Check beforehand that every variant you want to sell on bol has a valid EAN registered with GS1. Offering identical items under different EANs isn't allowed.
Pricing rules and LVB stock
For the buy box, your price including shipping and VAT counts, and for price stars bol also compares with prices outside bol. So decide whether bol gets the same price as your store. Add LVB orders to Shopify without lowering your own stock: those products are already at bol.
What goes where
Which data moves, in which direction, and which system wins when two values differ. That is written down before anything gets built. For this integration, that means: Offers and price, Stock, Orders and cancellation requests, Shipping and tracking, LVB orders and returns.
Fields and rules
For every field, how it translates between the systems: statuses, VAT codes, general ledger accounts, item numbers. And what happens with a duplicate or a missing value. For this integration, that means: Which system leads, Preventing double sales, EAN codes, Pricing rules and LVB stock.
Testing with real cases
In a sandbox or test administration, with the exceptions you actually run into: credit notes, partial deliveries, changed customer details.
Live, with logging and monitoring
Every sync is logged, and when something fails, someone gets an alert. If a vendor changes its API, we update the integration.

No account manager. You talk to someone who builds integrations themselves, and who will tell you when a standard integration is enough.

Is there an official integration between Shopify and bol?
Shopify's own marketplace app, Marketplace Connect, lists Amazon, eBay, Walmart and Target Plus, but not bol. There are apps from other parties in the Shopify App Store, and integration partners on the bol Partner Platform.
Should bol orders end up in Shopify?
Usually, yes: then the stock in Shopify goes down, your warehouse processes them like other orders and all your revenue is in one place. If you work with a WMS or ERP that already processes orders centrally, bol orders can also go straight there. Shopify then only gets the new stock level.
How do I avoid selling a product twice through Shopify and bol?
Make sure every stock change in Shopify goes to bol immediately and that bol orders reach Shopify quickly. Use bol's push notifications for new orders for that. When stock is low, keep a small buffer.
Does the integration also work with Fulfilment by bol?
Yes. bol ships LVB products itself. The integration adds LVB orders to Shopify for your revenue, without lowering your own stock, and fetches your LVB stock so you know when to replenish.
Can I charge a different price on bol than in my Shopify store?
Yes. Set a pricing rule in the integration, for example a mark-up per category or a separate bol price in a product field in Shopify. Bear in mind that bol also compares prices outside bol for its price stars.
