Connect SnelStart to Shopify
You sell through Shopify, and your accounts and stock are in SnelStart. With an integration, orders reach SnelStart without retyping and your online store shows the stock you actually have. Less manual work at the end of the day, and no selling products that have run out.
- Order to sales order or entry comes from Shopify

You see this combination in retail and wholesale at SMEs: a shop or warehouse, SnelStart for accounts and stock, and Shopify as the online store. Often a bookkeeper files the VAT return in the same SnelStart administration.
The question is which system keeps track of what. If you manage stock in SnelStart, Shopify needs to get that stock and every online order has to arrive in SnelStart as a sales order with items. If it's only about revenue, a sales entry is enough. That choice determines which integration fits and which SnelStart package you need.
For each item: which direction it goes, when, and why. This is the starting point; in the first conversation we fit it to your situation.
- 01Order to sales order or entryShopify → SnelStartwhen an order is paid
The order arrives in SnelStart as a sales order with items, or as a sales entry with revenue, VAT and shipping costs. You need a sales order if SnelStart tracks your stock.
- 02Stock to ShopifySnelStart → Shopifyafter a stock change or at set times
The stock level from SnelStart goes to Shopify, so the online store doesn't sell more than is on the shelf. Shop sales and purchases are then counted automatically.
- 03New items to the online storeSnelStart → Shopifywhen you create an item
A new item in SnelStart appears in Shopify as a draft, so you only need to add photos and copy before it goes live.
- 04Order status back to ShopifySnelStart → Shopifywhen the order has been processed
Once the order has been processed in SnelStart, the order in Shopify gets that status. That way customer service can see where an order stands.
- 05Payout to clearing accountShopify → SnelStarton every Shopify Payments payout
A payout consists of payments, refunds, adjustments and fees. Through a clearing account you match the orders and post the fees separately.
Not always. If an existing integration for SnelStart and Shopify does exactly what you need, we'll tell you.
SnelStart doesn't build integrations itself. Its integrations overview lists Shopify integrations from software partners. One type reads in orders with items, payment reference and status, with extensions for stock, items and reporting the order status back. The other posts the sale in SnelStart including VAT, shipping costs and discounts, and can import orders retrospectively.
If your process fits one of those variants, start there. A custom integration only makes sense if your SnelStart items and Shopify products don't match one to one, or if you have more channels than just Shopify.
- One item in SnelStart belongs to several variants in Shopify, or a bundle in Shopify consists of several SnelStart items.
- You have stock in several locations and Shopify may only see the stock of one warehouse.
- You also sell through other channels and want one stock level that's right across all of them.
- Business customers order on account through Shopify and need to appear in SnelStart as debtors with their own agreements.
AI reads, sorts and prepares a suggestion. Where it matters, a person decides.
Flagging stock differences
AI compares the stock in SnelStart with what Shopify shows and with that day's orders. If they drift apart, for example because of a return that wasn't processed, you get an alert with the likely cause. You make the adjustment yourself.
Matching payouts
If a payout doesn't match the orders, AI looks for the refund, dispute or fees that explain the difference and prepares a matching suggestion. After your approval it's posted.
Item code and SKU
The integration finds items by code. Make sure the SKU in Shopify is the same as the item code in SnelStart, for variants too. A missing or duplicate SKU makes an order get stuck.
Online administration and package
An API integration only works with an online administration. If you want a custom integration through the Maatwerk (custom) tile, according to SnelStart you need inZicht or inControle. Partner integrations state per integration which packages they support.
VAT on sales outside the Netherlands
If you sell to consumers in other EU countries, the VAT codes in SnelStart need to match the rate Shopify charges per delivery country. Have the integration pass the rate per order line rather than a single total.
One source for stock
Let stock flow one way: from SnelStart to Shopify. If you also adjust stock in Shopify, the next sync overwrites that change.
What goes where
Which data moves, in which direction, and which system wins when two values differ. That is written down before anything gets built. For this integration, that means: Order to sales order or entry, Stock to Shopify, New items to the online store, Order status back to Shopify, Payout to clearing account.
Fields and rules
For every field, how it translates between the systems: statuses, VAT codes, general ledger accounts, item numbers. And what happens with a duplicate or a missing value. For this integration, that means: Item code and SKU, Online administration and package, VAT on sales outside the Netherlands, One source for stock.
Testing with real cases
In a sandbox or test administration, with the exceptions you actually run into: credit notes, partial deliveries, changed customer details.
Live, with logging and monitoring
Every sync is logged, and when something fails, someone gets an alert. If a vendor changes its API, we update the integration.

No account manager. You talk to someone who builds integrations themselves, and who will tell you when a standard integration is enough.

Should I put Shopify orders into SnelStart as sales orders or as entries?
If you keep stock and item history in SnelStart, use sales orders with items. If it's only about revenue and VAT, a sales entry is simpler. Choose one route per channel and don't switch halfway through the year.
Can SnelStart update the stock in Shopify?
Yes, if SnelStart tracks your stock and the integration sends stock levels to Shopify. Existing partner integrations offer that as an extension to the order integration. The condition is that item codes and SKUs match.
Which SnelStart package do I need?
For the partner Shopify integrations in the SnelStart overview, inKaart up to and including inHandel are listed as supported packages. According to SnelStart, a custom integration through the Maatwerk tile is possible with inZicht and inControle. In all cases, your administration has to be online.
How do I post Shopify Payments payouts in SnelStart?
Through a clearing account. You post the paid orders to it, post the payout to your bank back out of it, and post the fees Shopify deducted separately. Whatever is left on the clearing account after that is a difference to investigate.
Can I put old Shopify orders into SnelStart?
One of the partner integrations in the SnelStart overview can import orders retrospectively. Agree with your bookkeeper beforehand which period has already been posted or declared, so you don't post revenue twice.
