Connect SnelStart to bol
You sell through bol and your accounts are in SnelStart. An integration puts orders into SnelStart, posts bol's commission and other fees in the right place and makes bol's payout reconcile with your revenue. That way you don't have to pick apart the bol invoice every month.
- Order to sales order or entry comes from bol
- bol invoice to purchases comes from bol
- Payout to bank comes from bol
- Customer invoice to bol goes to bol
- Stock to bol goes to bol
Built for clients including Tata Steel, M&G Investments, Digistore24, Toppers in Concert, Bar-le-Duc and Loogman
You sell through bol, perhaps alongside your own online store or shop. The order comes in through bol; stock and accounts are in SnelStart. Sometimes you ship yourself, sometimes part of the stock is with bol.
The tricky part is the money. At the end of the month, or for some partners twice a month, bol sends an invoice on which your sales and your costs, such as commission and shipping labels, are offset against each other. The balance is what you receive. If you only post that payout, you miss the revenue per order, the VAT and the costs.
For each item: which direction it goes, when, and why. This is the starting point; in the first conversation we fit it to your situation.
- 01Order to sales order or entrybol → SnelStartwhen the order has shipped
Every bol order arrives in SnelStart as a sales order with items, or as a sales entry with revenue and VAT. Because payment runs through bol, you post it to a clearing account for bol.
- 02bol invoice to purchasesbol → SnelStarton every new bol invoice
The bol invoice is broken down: commission, shipping labels and other costs go to purchases on their own general ledger accounts. bol's Invoices API provides a specification of all transactions on the invoice for this.
- 03Payout to bankbol → SnelStartwhen bol pays
You post the payout in your bank against the same clearing account. If everything is right, it's at zero afterwards.
- 04Customer invoice to bolSnelStart → bolwhen a business buyer requests an invoice
Business buyers can request an invoice through bol. The integration takes the invoice from SnelStart and uploads it to bol per shipment, not per order.
- 05Stock to bolSnelStart → bolafter a stock change
If you ship yourself, the stock from SnelStart goes to your offers on bol, so you don't sell what isn't on the shelf.
Not always. If an existing integration for SnelStart and bol does exactly what you need, we'll tell you.
SnelStart doesn't build integrations itself. Its integrations overview lists a bol integration from a software partner that automatically posts sales in SnelStart, including VAT, shipping costs and discounts, and can also import orders retrospectively.
That covers the revenue side. What you also need to sort out: breaking the bol invoice down into costs, matching the payout and uploading invoices for business buyers. Check whether a standard integration does that too, or whether you still do those steps by hand.
- bol stores part of your stock and ships it (Fulfilment by bol), while the rest is with you.
- You want the bol invoice broken down automatically into commission, shipping labels and other costs.
- Business buyers request invoices, and they need to be uploaded per shipment.
- You sell the same items through bol and your own online store, with one stock level in SnelStart.
AI reads, sorts and prepares a suggestion. Where it matters, a person decides.
Explaining the bol invoice
AI compares the specification of the bol invoice with your orders in SnelStart and looks for differences: an order that was sold but not posted, a return not yet processed, or costs you don't recognise. You get a list of suggestions; you decide what gets posted.
Not letting invoice requests sit
AI keeps track of open invoice requests from business buyers and prepares the invoice from SnelStart for upload. A team member checks and approves the upload.
Post revenue and costs separately
Post revenue and costs separately, not just the balance paid out. Otherwise your revenue is wrong and you miss the VAT on bol's fees.
Per shipment, not per order
An order can be sent in several shipments, and bol expects one customer invoice per shipment. So in SnelStart, also create an invoice per shipment when the buyer asks for one.
Fetching invoices per period
By default, bol's Invoices API returns the invoices for the past four weeks, and you can request at most 32 days at a time. If you want to read in history, request it month by month.
Online administration and key
Here too, the integration only works with an online SnelStart administration. A restored backup means a new connection key, and therefore an integration that has to be reactivated.
What goes where
Which data moves, in which direction, and which system wins when two values differ. That is written down before anything gets built. For this integration, that means: Order to sales order or entry, bol invoice to purchases, Payout to bank, Customer invoice to bol, Stock to bol.
Fields and rules
For every field, how it translates between the systems: statuses, VAT codes, general ledger accounts, item numbers. And what happens with a duplicate or a missing value. For this integration, that means: Post revenue and costs separately, Per shipment, not per order, Fetching invoices per period, Online administration and key.
Testing with real cases
In a sandbox or test administration, with the exceptions you actually run into: credit notes, partial deliveries, changed customer details.
Live, with logging and monitoring
Every sync is logged, and when something fails, someone gets an alert. If a vendor changes its API, we update the integration.

No account manager. You talk to someone who builds integrations themselves, and who will tell you when a standard integration is enough.

How do I post the bol invoice in SnelStart?
Break it down. The sales are already in SnelStart as orders or entries; you post the commission, shipping labels and other costs as purchases to their own general ledger accounts. You match the balance bol pays out against the clearing account for bol.
Why is bol's payout lower than my revenue?
Because bol has already deducted your costs. On the bol invoice, your sales are added up and commission and shipping labels are subtracted; the difference is paid out. If the costs are higher than the sales, you have to pay the invoice separately.
Do I have to create invoices for buyers on bol?
Business buyers can request an invoice through bol, and you can also upload invoices in advance yourself. bol expects one invoice per shipment. An integration can fetch open requests, take the invoice from SnelStart and upload it.
Are bol returns processed automatically?
That depends on the integration. bol has a separate Returns API, so an integration can fetch returns and turn them into a credit entry or credit note. Check whether a standard integration does this; otherwise you process returns by hand.
Can I still import bol orders from previous months?
The bol integration in the SnelStart overview can import orders retrospectively. You request bol invoices through the API per period of at most 32 days. Agree with your bookkeeper which periods have already been declared.
